비지니스영어 - 휴~ 십년감수했군

 

 

A man joins a big corporate empire as a trainee. one his very first

 day of work,

 

he dials the company cafeteria and shouts into the phone -

"Get me a coffee, quickly!"

 

The voice from the other side responded. "You fool, you've dialed

the wrong extension!  Do you know who you're talking to, dumbo?"

 

"No." replied the trainee.

 

"It's the CEO of the company, you fool!"

 

The trainee shouts back. "And do YOU know who YOU are talking

to, you fool?!"

 

"No." replied the CEO indignantly.

 

"Good!" replied the trainee, and puts down the phone.

 

 

 

 

한남자가 어떤 대기업에 수습사원으로 입사했다. 출근한 첫날에 이 사원

이 회사구내식당에 전화를 걸어서 소리를 질렀다.

 

"커피한잔 가져와, 빨리!"

 

그러자 전화기 반대쪽에서 이런 응답이 왔다. "이 멍청아, 구내전화번호

를 잘못눌렀잖아. 지금 어디다 대고 말하는 건지 알기나 하나, 바보야?"

 

"모르겠는데" 수습사원이 대답했다.

 

"여기 사장실이란 말이야, 이 멍청아!"

수습사원이 같이 맞받아 고함 질렀다.

 

"그럼 넌 내가 누군지나 알고 말하는 거니, 이 멍청아?!"

 

"몰라" 사장이 악이 받쳐서 대답했다.

 

"잘됐네." 수습사원은 이렇게 말하고 전화기를 내려놓았다.

 

 

 

 

join a big corporate empire:   대기업에 입사하다.

dial:   전화를 걸다 (call)

company cafeteria:   구내식당

dial the wrong extension:  엉뚱한 구내전화로 전화하다.

dumbo: 멍청이 (=stupid, fool)

indignantly: 분해서

put down the phone: 수화기를 내려놓다.
